Hope and her two daughters

Hope and her two daughters

“Hope has two daughters; their names are Anger and Courage. Anger at the way things are, and Courage to see that they do not remain as they are.”

St. Augustine of Hippo

Oh, I know anger so well. Almost every time I turn on news radio, listening to the hypocrisy.

I want to scream. All deaths are worthy of being humanised. All.

All forms of hate towards others must be stamped out to stop any one form of hate.

All acts of otherisation keep us divided.

All types of supremacy are the seedlings of evil.

Little Atrocities must be called out. (https://syntropic.world/little-atrocities-the-path-from-integrity-to-self-deception-and-bad-business/)

I have to stop listening to the exceptionalism that seems to be the 24-hour news feed.

I have to stop hearing the designation of some people or groups as terrorists, and others who terrorise demand innocence and righteousness. The list is long. From Trump, the USA, and ICE, to the UK Parliament, to the Israeli Parliament.

Terrorism is the act of terrorising. It should be deemed wrong no matter who wielded the gun. Peaceful protesting is not terrorising.

There is too much anger in me. And behind it, oceans of heartbreak. For our human cruelty to each other.

I look to Courage. Syntropic World is dedicated to changing the world from hate, exploitation, colonisation, and extraction to extinction.

Instead of wallowing in my anger, which is dangerous, I must return to courage. To act. Write. Speak. Take a stand. Build. Design. Create. For a better world for Earth and all her creatures.

When so many people who stand for all-human-rights are punished and slammed for speaking up against anything that is not this, thrown into a bucket of being anti this or that when they speak of all-human dignity, I must also dig deep into the well of my courage, knowing that when I do, I will be the target of hate.

And wrapped in the blanket of courage, a refusal to respond to the hate with hate.

Oh, this is the hard work we face.

December 22nd 2025 The context for our existence The context for our existence The solstice is here. I love the mathematics of nature’s cycles. There is a certainty to it that is missing from so many other areas of our lives. We know that on this day, for half of the world, it is the shortest day, and for the other half, those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, it is the longest. Just like the sunrise and sunset happen with mathematical precision. Yet we humans, and all of life, refuse to...

December 21st 2025 Let the storm blow through Let the storm blow through I read this quote earlier today. My mother taught me that the longer you keep that howl trapped inside your body, the more wolf you become, but she never showed me how to let the howl out. Womanhood is also this: a violence louder on the inside than it is on the outside. Smiling when truly all you are doing is baring your teeth. Nikita Gill, This Wild Violence Visits Again I have never been good at smiling. My rage comes...

December 20th 2025 The brilliance of another’s light The brilliance of another’s light The beauty of this photo is that the sun is hidden behind the clouds. The moment it rises above the clouds, the definition and dimension of the clouds will be lost. As the observer of many dawns, I see the patterns of the clouds on the dawn horizon. Each day unique. Occasionally absent. Several hours into the day, if I look closely, I might still be able to discern the same clouds. Yet their features have...
