Digital despair

Digital despair

Digital despair is a new and sophisticated tool of class domination, where algorithms and artificial intelligence are methodically and imperceptibly used over time to spread content that fosters feelings of helplessness and resignation. Rezgar Akrawi

Over the last few days, I have deliberately deleted almost every article in my news feed. I turned off the news radio and stopped any form of scrolling. I have no idea what is going on outside of my little world.

There was too much drama and stress in my little world to cope with extra.

I have noticed the difference. I have felt the anger settle from a constant simmer to calm.

Digital despair is real. It is the current version of a Little Atrocity. (https://syntropic.world/little-atrocities-the-path-from-integrity-to-self-deception-and-bad-business/) Slow, slow, slow, micro feeds that shift mindsets and thinking. Mine. Yours. All. Hard to distinguish and sort truth from fiction.

Our minds are owned by the controlling empire. The technofacists and oligarchs. Even my 92-year-old father, a dedicated reader until he became blind a month ago, was possessed by right-wing propaganda he read religiously from cover to cover every day.

The creation of a sense of despair and powerlessness is a useful tool of supplication. Keep the people docile.

The Wizard of Oz is fiction. But we have made it real.

Unhook, untangle. See it for what it is.

December 30th 2025 Hussam Abu Safiya Hussam Abu Safiya Has been held in detention for over a year. A pediatrician. No known charge. Held in unknown places, treated in an unknown way. By a regime that is known to detain health workers, a regime that is known to rape prisoners and then insist on the rapists not being charged. A regime that seizes the opportunity of Gaza as a distraction to seize more territory in the West Bank. A regime that refuses foreign journalists access to Gaza, as if...

December 29th 2025 I don’t feel like it I don’t feel like it This is the threshold question of life. An inflection point that determines character. When we do not feel like doing it, taking action, smiling when we are lost in despair because we are in customer service (and we are all in customer service), completing the task, whatever it is – what choice do we make? Are we able to dig deep? Or do we capitulate to the lazy, lacking responsibility persona? Sometimes, though rarely, not doing...

December 27th 2025 The beauty of pure raw emotion The beauty of pure raw emotion Even the sky has drama. One day, clear and blue; another, angry and yellow. But do we judge the sky for its drama? Do we try to change it? Or can we see the beauty in the drama? That the dark clouds and the passage of light make something so unique and unforgettable. Human emotion is like the clouds…some days clear, other days angry and dark… There is beauty to be found in all phases… In our world, where the...
