Sounds exotic. Smart.

But it is essentially bullying and blackmail.

We watch as blunt instruments such as tariffs are wielded. Countries with governments that do not bend the knee to the hegemony are subjected to crippling sanctions that incite protests that lead to violence. A deliberate form of regime change, manipulated from afar.

No better than the heavy arriving on your doorstep to threaten the repossession of your car or house.

The control of the oil flows is another form of economic statecraft. Venezuela, Iran – their oil supplies China, and our current economic hegemon does not want China to rise, nor to overthrow the hegemonic global currency.

The antidote, being realised with sweet speed, is to unshackle from the dependency. To find other alliances, more trustworthy and enduring.

Serving the bully is a zero-sum game. Not only is it cowardly, but it also lacks ethics, dignity and decency, and eventually, the bully will feast on those who serve the bully, for in this game, the only thing that ever matters is that the bully wins. At any price.
