Beauty of Beginnings - June 2nd - Data is not truth

Data is not truth

Data is not truth

For it misses everything that cannot be measured and reduced to zeros and ones.

It fails to account for perspective, worldview, beauty, violence, love, awe.

It strips everything that makes us human, and asks that we become machines.

The era we are entering has placed data on the new altar. The god of our times.

It fuels obscene wealth for the few while extracting our data-captured lives.

The gods of data use their weapon to manipulate, obfuscate, capture and incite. If they want a story to be told, they point to a data set as evidence. Fools are we to give data that power.

We revere its message. And as we do, we lose the connectivity of gorgeous relationships, and all the trials that come with relationships that matter.

To think data is truth is to risk persecuting actions and experiences, at a huge cost, while refusing to consider the whole.

The price – our health and sanity, our precious home planet, justice, dignity and equality.

I would like to see how peaceful Sam Harris would remain, even with his meditation practise and bank account, if a group of people came and forcefully took his home, and the homes of his family and friends, bulldozed it, bused everyone...

June 10th 2026 I love you too much to let you stay broken I love you too much to let you stay broken 25 years ago, I created a program called Dare to Care – How to speak the radical truth with compassion. The point was that if we care enough about someone, we will tell them the radical truth, ideally in a way that does not demean, belittle, shame or ridicule. We often confuse love with being nice. Love is courage. Love is wanting for the other great things, including being the most beautiful...

June 9th 2026 Standing even against relentless criticism Standing even against relentless criticism Almost every human I have met has before them the choice between the path that calls to them but is filled with uncertainty, risk, and exposure, and the safe path. We are faced with this choice every single day in one form or another. When we take the risky, exposing path, then we face everything that we fear. This includes shame, failure, rejection, ridicule and isolation. Our world is full of...
