Subjugating power, refusing self-trust

Subjugating power, refusing self-trust

To surrender our authority of decision-making to another is a form of subjugation.

There are certainly places we might do this. Seeing a Specialist doctor for a particular condition. Getting financial advice.

However, relinquishing our decision-making lives in a context, and we might set the context to better maintain our agency.

Learning to trust oneself is a life’s work.

To attend to the place inside that is not aligned, the absence of an absolute yes. A yes said reflexively, without taking the time to gather details and make a more informed decision.

What is the decision that needs to be made? Name it specifically. A decision that does not have clarity is a setup for mistake-making.

Who do you trust to inform you? Not just one person. Why do you trust them? Interrogate this. Why do you trust them? An ungrounded response does not qualify. For example – I just do. Ungrounded.

Have you now enough information? What might be missing?

Step back. See, feel and sense it all.

Speak with your trusted beloveds. Hear them. Thresh it out.

Finally, drop deep into your own knowing. The steady, quiet place that either says an absolute yes or needs to wait and gather more.

Honour that.

October 29th 2026 There Is a Way Through There Is a Way Through After weeks of rain, the sky is blue. Moods lift. Life seems shinier. It is a lot, this world, to take in. Too much violence, too much division, too much hate. I watched two young women spend at least twenty minutes capturing the perfect shot last week, and felt exhausted for them. I listened to the BBC interview four young Israelis about the election, and I felt despair. There is a rise in the global number of people with...

October 28th 2026 Necro-Economics Necro-economics I had never heard of the word necro-economics until today. It is a critical theoretical framework that places death, negation, and the systematic “letting die” of disposable or marginalised populations at the core of modern capitalist and political economies. (The cruelty of banality: Necro-economics and global letting die – Joshua Ayer.) Even reading the description makes me feel sick. Disposable people. An elevated set from disposable...

October 27th 2026 The precession of persecution The precession of persecution Precession is the affect of bodies in motion on other bodies in motion, producing a side effect (precession) at 90 degrees to the motion. Drop a stone into a pond of water, and the ripples occur at ninety degrees. Intractable persecution of one group of people has a precessional effect. Including an entrenched story of victimhood. For example, intractable persecution of women, and women can carry the energy of...
