The journey through confrontation to creation

The journey through confrontation to creation

1. We begin at effect – not knowing, seeing or understanding, like a cork in the ocean. At the effect of the machine, Moloch, systems created without any of our input. This is the occupation of victim mentality.

2. The system, people, those in power play us. We are the tools to be manipulated. We give our power to another, perhaps thinking we might gain points, or love, or recognition from power. It is a form of sycophancy.

3. If we lift our head, we might see that people profit from the machine. Rather than be exploited, to give our power away, perhaps we choose to become a taker. To exploit. Play the game. It is a soulless occupation.

4. If we have the fortitude, and sometimes fortitude forces its hand, we confront the situation, the truth. Reality as it is. This stage is the switching point. A threshold.

To confront truth is the beginning of liberation.

5. Now we have cards in our hands, and we can choose change. We begin to make conscious choices. A question we might ask is: given what is, what are my options?

6. We grow into responsibility. You may not be able to change the system, but we can change how we respond to what is.

7. The final stage is to be at cause, to create. To do and make and act in full awareness, no longer a victim, no longer blind, brim full of possibility, even against everything.

Here is an example of how this might work.

There is a change in the market. It threatens everything you know, all of your experience, the stories you have told yourself, your bank account.

As a victim, we are angry, scared, disempowered. Hopelessness and helplessness swallow us.

We might choose to respond to this change by weaponising the system, lying, cheating, omitting, manipulating.

If we have the fortitude, we lift our heads and confront the truth. It is as it is. We do not have control of what is. To confront what is is the beginning of real change. An alcoholic needs to confront their alcoholism.

We might ask, what can we control in this situation?

We begin to take action faced with the truth. We are responsible for our choices, our responses. Our power cup begins to fill. We leave the victim behind.

We recognise that we always have choice in how we respond to things we cannot change. This restores our power. The exterior circumstances may be dire. No one can take our power unless we let them.

August 2nd 2026 Have the arrow find its way home Have the arrow find its way home When the signal…your intention…is clear and aligned and comes across in any physical form, be that a document, a product, a relationship, or whatever…then it will land in the field of supply… Think Martin Luther King Jr’s speech, “I have a dream”. His intention, born not from the words on a page, which he actually discarded, but from a connection to his heart and being, and then having this clear intention being...

September 1st 2026 Under an illusion of superiority Under an illusion of superiority As I write, I am seated at the Surf Lifesaving cafe beachside at a little place called Crescent Heads in New South Wales. We just came in from a two-hour surf, starting at very first light. The ocean is currently empty of surfers as Crescent Heads Surf Club uses drone technology to detect sharks. And it has a big one on its screen. It has been cruising right where we were surfing in the last hour. The drone...

Augsut 31st 2026 A moment of peace A moment of peace Not a cloud in the sky. A slight breeze. The warm sun on my skin. In the Southern Hemisphere, the last day of winter, the eve of spring. Yet the weather is, like everything, topsy-turvy. I just read a quote that humans are a peculiar/terrible species. We worship a God while destroying Nature, which is God. I might edit that quote. The ‘civilised man’ worships a God while killing Nature, God. May many communities of people, classified by...
