The new colonialism

When data is stripped mined from human art, expression, and creativity.

Knowledge systems vacuumed from indigenous wisdom.

And certain categories become universal, while others are erased.

Because the story must remain that the superior man is the superior man in all things.

Accounting refuses to acknowledge the contributions of the many, to edify the contributions of the few – the superior man.

Whether it is the publicly funded innovation supporting all of our current tech, as researched and presented so well by Mariana Mazzucato, or the millions of hours of ghost work – a phrase coined by Mary L. Gray in her book coauthored with Siddharth Suri, Ghost Work: How to Stop Silicon Valley from Building a New Global Underclass – or the children mining rare Earth minerals, the heroic story of the superior man and his superior intelligence neglects to account for the contributions of millions of people.

The edifice rests upon the broken and erased backs of many.

This, they say, is to be successful.

Not in my world. In Syntropic World, we work to create a system that honours all forms of contribution, including the weightless immeasurable. We do this through Synergistic Accounting.

Let us not forget, erase, exploit, extract or colonise and call that success.
