Trial by citizen
When the courts or our institutions fail at justice, which they are doing with increasing frequency, it falls, as always, upon citizens to take the justice mantle.
This is the story of Batman, and many of the other DC Justice League crew.
But in the real world, it falls on regular humans without capes, masks or special powers.
People like Toby Morton, former writer for the animated comedy South Park.
His current project is TheCornell7.org, where he is exposing the seven men who participated in the gang-rape of a University Student in 2024 and were not held to account.
The irony is that Cornell held the people protesting against Israel’s action against Palestine to greater punishment – a strict, zero-tolerance approach – than against a group of young men who deemed it acceptable to drug and gang-rape a student over the course of hours. (Two students were expelled and the fraternity, Chi Phi, was closed permanently.)
Law is a tool of extreme power and accumulation. The legal codes that are built around protecting the capital rights of the elite, the tech bros, and mafia politicians are out of reach for the majority of humanity. Syntropic World seeks to challenge every legal code in its design – to serve instead the increased wellbeing of all of life.
When the law fails us, trial by citizen is a legitimate pathway. Of course, the shadow of this is when the algorithm is purchased by the same elite to spell-cast the masses into believing that if we stop migration, our cost of living and house prices will come down. The shadow side is also a deliberate smear campaign against an innocent person, or using deepfakes to wreck a life.
And you might say, these young men have not been tried in a court of law, so how can we assume their guilt?
In 2024, Cornell handled the matter through its internal disciplinary processes, and local law enforcement did not initially bring criminal charges. Because why?
Of those incidents of accused rape that are brought to trial, between 3 and 7 % result in a conviction. (Depending upon the country. It can be lower.) The accuser must relive the experience multiple times and go through all of the horrors of a court system designed not for the accuser, but for the protection of the person accused.
Almost every woman I know, including me, will easily name the age, more often under 12 years, when they were sexually preyed upon in some way. That shift from innocent child to knowing you were a target of predatory lust is swift and cruel. The number of women who take their predator to court is likely to be extremely small in percentage. Too hard, too painful, rarely results in justice.
And then we have the Epstein class. All the evidence. The crimes committed by the most powerful. Only one conviction, not including Epstein himself. That is the law at work, as it was designed. Not to protect the innocent, but to protect the criminal elite. Still, to this day.
Bravo to Toby Morton. He has been heavily trolled by what he calls the Department of Unsolicited Male Investigations. “What if she is lying?”
What if she is telling the truth? What makes it acceptable, ever, for men to think rape is permissible?
And we return, again, to the seed of so much evil. The belief that someone has superiority over another.
