Confusion

From the Etymological Dictionary

Latin confusionem (nominative confusio) “a mingling, mixing, blending; confusion, disorder,” noun of action from past-participle stem of confundere “to pour together

Certain

Latin certus “determined, resolved, fixed, settled.Old French cert, Italian certo, Spanish cierto), originally a variant past participle of cernere “to distinguish, decide,” literally “to sift, separate.” This Latin verb comes from the PIE root *krei- “to sieve,” thus “discriminate, distinguish,

Confusion is a mixing up, disorder. Uncertain is not settled, not sifted, not discriminated.

In confusion I am all mixed up. Being uncertain, I have not sifted or discriminated.

Confusion begs a question. The question we might dare to ask. It invites emergence through clouds. It may require holding the question and allowing Kairos time.

Uncertainty seeks discrimination between. Not this, not that. Oftentimes we do not know what is until we have gone through the not this, not that. It is the process of sifting.

Let the gods of tech win. And the US government has deemed the Palestine Action Group a terrorist organisation. Hello Nelson Mandela, you know about this type of...

August 26th 2026 Dolly has left us Dolly has left us She was one of the few people who managed to be universally loved. I think about this. For some, to be universally loved is an aspiration. And I wonder, is it the way, in a world that kills the ‘other’ with such ferocity? We need people like Dolly. She knew she played a public role. That role was not who she was. She played the blonde, yet she was never the stereotype. She could walk out of the negotiation room a winner before the other...

August 25th 2026 The innocent pay The innocent pay The Israeli Defence Force cleared soldiers of criminal responsibility for the 2024 drone strike that killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers, including Australian citizen Zomi Frankcom. Hillel Newman, the Israeli ambassador to Australia, said about this finding: “One cannot attack the findings of a court if the findings are not suitable to one’s political agenda.” He said this not only with a straight face, but he also said it with...
